In the summer of 2023, when I was just 11 years old, I wanted a game system more than anything. But when I asked my parents for it, they said no. They believed I should earn it myself, so I decided to start my own business. After researching ideas with my parents, we came up with the idea of making candles. I loved how different scents could change my mood, and I wanted to share that experience with others.

While shopping for supplies, we found a quirky gravy boat that would make a fun candle container. That moment sparked an idea: I could upcycle unique containers and give them a second life as candles. We chose soy wax because it’s renewable, non-toxic, and burns cleaner than paraffin. It also holds fragrance better, which meant my candles would have a stronger scent.

By November 2023, I had set up my first booth at a craft fair. I was nervous but excited, and the feedback was amazing. It felt incredible to know my products were bringing joy to others. With the support of my parents, my business has grown quickly. I am learning how to be an entrepreneur—managing money, marketing my products, and listening to customer feedback.

That Christmas, my parents surprised me with the game system I had wanted. It wasn’t just a gift—it was a reminder of how much I had accomplished. My little business has turned into something bigger than I ever imagined, and I can’t wait to see where it will go next.
